Auditions for the 2025 Florida All-State Orchestras will take place towards the end of September of 2024. This is coming very soon! Winning a spot in your grade level Florida All-State Orchestra is a tour de force. To put things in perspective, our nation's top collegiate music schools and conservatories recruit their incoming students from the small pool of High School All-State winners from all fifty states. Many students mistakenly think they can take the summer off from practicing their violin, viola, cello, or bass and still have a shot at winning a spot at All-State. This is not the case. If you are interested in winning a spot at Florida All-State, you must make a plan and practice diligently and methodically, usually with the help of an expert private violin, viola, cello, or bass teacher.
For your convenience, find links to the string all-state audition requirements below.

In addition, the student must be a regularly participating member in the appropriate middle school or high school orchestra from that school and sponsored by the Active FMEA/FOA member teacher from that school. Home education students must meet the requirements and complete the additional paperwork on the FMEA All-State Eligibility Page.

Rehearsals & Performances
All-State performances are part of the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Professional Learning Conference in January. For more information about the performances and rehearsals, please see the FMEA Conference website and the FMEA All-State Conference Policies.
DIRECTORS of accepted all-state students are REQUIRED TO REGISTER AND ATTEND the FMEA Conference January 8-11, 2025. See the FMEA Conference Policies for details.
Coordinators
Each all-state ensemble has a coordinator to manage the logistics of that ensemble. They are elected members of the executive board. Read about their duties in the All-State Coordinator Handbook posted on the Handbooks and Policies page.
Honors Orchestras
The 7th & 8th Grade Honors Orchestra and High School Honors Orchestra are determined by director nomination rather than audition. The same eligibility, rehearsal, and performance information above also applies to the honors orchestras. Directors should nominate students through the MPA-Online system, and results will be available at the same time as all-state results.
